Dr. ASHOK KUMAR GROVER (G02758)
Abstract
The objective of the course is to present the strategy for tackling paediatric eyelid disorders, congenital and acquired, that present a special challenge to the Oculoplastic surgeon. The conditions include congenital colobomas, congenital ptosis including jaw winking and blepharophimosis syndrome, congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction and adnexal trauma including orbital fractures. The paediatric disorders require a different skill set for evaluation and management. The anatomical differences, amblyogenic potential and differences in the tissue reactions merit a consideration. The course aims to bring out the specific differences and intricacies of surgical indications and management. This will be done with the help of clinical photographs and surgical videos. An interactive panel discussion will help clarify doubts. At the end of the course the attendee should be familiar with the complexities and techniques of surgical management of childhood Oculoplastic conditions.
