Abstract
With the introduction of anti-VEGF therapy, laser photocoagulation in current retinal practice has apparently taken a back seat. However, lasers are ever evolving in terms of the management protocols and innovations, and has an ever expanding list of indications in treatment for various vitreoretinal disorders. Conventional laser techniques include pan retinal photocoagulation (PRP), focal and grid lasers, barrage laser, laser indirect ophthalmoscopy etc. Innovations in treatment patterns include Endpoint management, Micropulse laser, Nanopulse laser,Targeted retinal photocoagulation (TRP), PASCAL, NAVILAS etc. With the advent of these newer patterns, laser therapy is again regaining importance and it will remain an integral component in the conservative management of a number of vitreoretinal disorders. In this instruction course, we describe the current indications for laser photocoagulation, recent updates in the field and will also provide a step by step guideline for the beginners.
