Abstract
10 years back, LASIK and refractive practitioners were the most sought after ophthalmologists, as there were very few who had dared to invest in an Excimer laser machine. Cut to 10 years later, given the phenomenal success that LASIK has become, it has become next to impossible for a new refractive surgeon to survive! Today there are way too many challenges to set up a new refractive practice for a young surgeon, in a field that is increasingly becoming industry driven. In this IC we bring together a group of fellowship trained young refractive surgeons to discuss and debate about various issues, obstacles and practical tips about setting up a Refractive Surgery practice. This course will be relevant to all budding young private practitioners wanting to go down this road.
