Abstract

Often times, ophthalmologists fresh out of residency are in a confused state of mind with many options available: private practice, institutional practice, fellowships, additional qualifying exams, or further training abroad. One may find it difficult to choose the right career path. This instruction course systematically discusses each of the options– choosing the right fellowship program in India and abroad, foreign qualifying exams, observerships overseas, the pros & cons of private practice vs. group practice and how to chose what’s best for you. Each of the panelists in this course are from premier ophthalmology institutes across the country and are actively involved in ophthalmology education with in-depth knowledge on the topics allotted to them. This IC not only analyses the benefits of each of the career options but also objectively discusses how to maximise the opportunities available making it a unique course that every young ophthalmologist must attend.
