Abstract
There have been unprecedented advances in retinal and choroidal imaging, of which OCT remains the most widely used modality. Recognition of newer terminologies on OCT has clinical implications and may provide pathophysiological insights. Clinicians need to keep abreast of this proliferation of literature and apply it in day-to-day practice. Unfortunately textbooks have not incorporated all these terms and they are not available in a consolidated manner in journals. Getting a better grip of these newer concepts and imbibing them may eventually improve patient outcomes and lead to newer research ideas.
This course provides a comprehensive overview of newer terminologies on OCT pertaining to the vitreoretinal interface, intraretinal abnormalities, biomarkers in vascular disorders, age-related macular degeneration and the choroid. Each term will be illustrated by typical representative cases followed by clinical implications and take home pearls.
