Abstract
Instruction Course will present the techniques available for astigmatism management at the time of cataract surgery using a didactic and video based approach. With Cataract surgery increasingly being considered a refractive surgery, astigmatism control has become a very important component for achieving “Target Emmetropia”. Techniques covered, in the course, include modulation of phacoemulsification incisions (size, placement and opposite clear corneal incisions), incisional techniques like LRIs (Limbal Relaxing Incisions- Manual and Femto laser LRIs), Toric IOLs and the use of newer intraoperative Image Guided Systems for enhanced results. Course participants will be able to understand the concepts and techniques for astigmatism control in cataract surgery and be able to incorporate them in their practices.
