Abstract
Synopsis:
The incidence of pseudophakic corneal edema/ bullous keratopathy is increasing. We also see large number of Fuchs’ dystrophy cases, because of better diagnostic tools. So, we have to do lots of endothelial keratoplasty (EK). Descemet membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) is now preferable over DSEK/DSAEK because it is anatomically most perfect with faster visual rehabilitation with 20/20 vision in majority of cases. But learning curve of DMEK is very steep.
This video-assisted instruction course will highlight DMEK step-by-step and in-depth. It includes: Donor DM-roll preparation; Descemet scoring and stripping; donor insertion techniques and unfolding; and air management, etc. It will also deal with case selections; indications, contraindications, complications with their management.
At the end of the course, the attendee will learn DMEK procedures step-by-step in a simplified manner which is relevant to Indian scenario.
