Abstract
Method: We address some of these controversies and present a pragmatic approach. We have discussed various surgical techniques available for treatment along with the indications for their use. We address the complications associated with hyphema and how to diagnose and manage and in rare clinical situations such as recurrent hyphema.
Conclusion: Hyphema is a common clinical condition that carries a good visual prognosis if managed timely and appropriately. A careful systemic and ocular examination is necessary to decide the plan of management. The primary aim of treatment is to prevent the development of complications by early surgical intervention along with appropriate medical treatment which leads to prompt and better visual outcomes.
