Abstract
Purpose- To assess the usefulness of high magnification macular lens for retinal surgeries.
Methods- We used high magnification macular lens in different clinical scenarios like management of tractional retinal detachment, removal of taut hyaloid, epiretinal membrane peeling, dissection of fibrovascular adhesions in fibrovascular proliferations.
Results- In each of these, we found improved ease of performing intricate steps due to privilege of a magnified view thereby allowing us to correctly visualize structural details without compromising the depth of focus. This in turn gives better precision to the surgical steps and improves the margin of safety by preventing any inadvertent iatrogenic retinal breaks.
Conclusion-
Use of high magnification macular lens provides vitreoretinal surgeons with a refined depth of focus with closer magnification, thereby enabling excellent precision in finer steps of surgeries.
