Abstract
We developed a modified technique using 25-gauge ILM forceps and indwelling flanged IOL for easy and better placement of trailing haptic which generally poses a hassle.
Methods
In this modified yamanee method, 2 sclerotomy sites were made with 25-gauge trocars. A 1mm incision for fixing an anterior chamber maintainer (infusion) between 5 to 6 clock hours. A 3mm entry was made to inject the foldable 3-piece IOL. After injecting the IOL on to the iris , the leading haptic of 0.17mm thickness was held with the help of 25 gauge ILM forceps and exteriorised , in a similar fashion the trailing haptic was also exteriorised & after checking the centration of IOL the two haptics were flanged on either side .
Conclusions
Modified technique helps anterior segment surgeon to perform secondary scleral fixated IOL with ease.
