Abstract

Aim: Ahmed Glaucoma Valve is often the last resort in the armamentarium of glaucoma surgery. The implantation technique has a long learning curve, the most daunting task being the insertion of the tube into the Anterior Chamber. Furthermore, the tube needs to be covered by a scleral flap or a graft which requires a high level of technical expertise. Once implanted, AGV functions well. Later, formation of a thick capsule around the reservoir suffocates it, increasing the IOP- warranting the use of drugs or valve replacement as a solution

Methods: We have focused on these problems and come up with innovative solutions. The problem of tube insertion, we have made hassle free by the technique of rail roading, and used a combination of scleral pocket and flap for covering the tube. The problem of fluid suffocation, we have addressed through Decapsulation

Conclusion: In our video, we illustrate these techniques, making AGV surgeon friendly, and aid in giving reliable and repeatable results
