Abstract
Glaucoma has become the second leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide and is estimated to affect 112 million people by 2040. Currently intraocular pressure is the only known modifiable risk factor and thus lowering IOP is the mainstay of treatment for glaucoma. When compared to standard glaucoma surgeries, Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS) typically require shorter operation times and allow for more rapid recovery. MIGS can also be combined with cataract extraction for patients with mild-to-moderate glaucoma and cataracts. Even though MIGS has become an integral part of glaucoma management in the western world, cost and unavailability of MIGS devices limits surgeons in developing countries in adopting MIGS in patient care. Our video demonstrates a step wise approach in inculcating low cost MIGS procedures suitable for developing countries.
