Abstract

Amniotic membrane transplantation( AMT) is the most effective method to reconstruct ocular surface.Amniotic membrane(AM) is used as biological bandage to treat various ocular surface diseases because of its unique properties like promotion of epithelialization, inhibition of inflammation & angiogenesis, modulation of stromal scarring and carrier for ex vivo cultured limbal stem cells. There is no doubt AMT will be “ the evergreen HERO” in the management of ocular surface disorders.

Since AM is a wonderful tool,every ophthalmologist should be aware of its uses and processing technique.Processing of AM requires right knowledge and experience. So our video highlights the correct technique of processing and preservation of AM . Video also demonstrates the various surgical uses of amniotic membrane in different scenarios along with outcomes. At the end of the day after watching the video every ophthalmologist would be well versed about the technique of AM processing and its uses.
