Abstract

Introduction: Blindness due to ocular trauma is leading cause monocular blindness. Delayed presentation in the developing world may be due to lack of access to healthcare facilities which may be further accentuated by poverty and lack of education and unawareness. Neglected traumatic cataracts present with various morphologies with degenerative changes and comorbidities. Management of such neglected cataracts remains a challenge.

Aim-To present the clinical features, various modalities of management and their associated complications in delayed presentation of traumatic cataracts.

Method- Interventional Video based case series from a tertiary tribal eye care centre showing various clinical presentation, surgical procedures and challenges faced in tackling such traumatic cataracts during surgery.

Conclusion: Meticulous preoperative assessment and step wise protocol based management may have a significant impact on visual outcome in neglected traumatic cataracts
