Abstract

Introduction: The Evaluation and management of a membrane behind the posterior surface of the cornea are a special challenge for ophthalmologists. Such membranes apart from being an optical barrier can also contract altering the shape of the cornea. Also if associated with iris/vitreous incarceration can lead to traction and its associated complications.

Method: In this video we are demonstrating the surgical management of such membrane with the use of vitrectomy accompanied by mechanical traction by forceps and direct tissue excision by vannas scissors.

Conclusion: Management of fibrous retrocorneal membranes can challenging but meticulous excision can help improve long term visual prognosis.
