Abstract
Aim- To study the demographic profile and risk factors of work related ocular injuries presenting at a rural based tertiary care hospital in central India. Methods – A retrospective study of patients presenting with work related eye injuries during the period of January 2019 to December 2019 was done. Review of records were done for demographics, nature & cause of injury, vision and ocular findings. Results- A total of 23 patients were included in the study. Mean age was 43.43 ± 12.73 years with a male:female ratio of 6.6:1. 60.8% patients had injury while working in industries, with most common object causing injury being metal (43.5%). 91.3% had open globe injury with visual axis involvement in 34.8% cases. 56.5% presented within 48 hours of injury. On presentation, 86.9 % patients had a VA < 3/60. Conclusion-Work related ocular trauma was more common in males of productive age group working in industries.
