Abstract

Unilateral cataract in children is always a challenge mainly due to the postoperative rehabilitation. Traumatic cataract if isolated have a good prognosis. We present a series of 5 children who underwent Eyehance IOL implantation with a followup of 6 months.

All children underwent standard cataract surgery with posterior capsulorrhexis and in the bag implantation of IOL. The mean age of children was 6.8 +/- 2.2 years. The mean IOL power was 24.2 +/- 1.4 Diopters. All the children achieved 20/20 vision for distance. The mean addition for near was 1.4 +/- 0. 13 D at 33 cms

Mean stereoacuity developed postoperatively was 200 +/- 60 seconds of arc.

The advantage of Eyehance IOL is the reduced need of addition for near and is a big advantage for children with unilateral cataract post trauma
