Abstract
Methods:A case report of 31 year old male patient complaining of pain in left eye since 3 months diagnosed as ocular cysticercosis in left eye with 6/9 vision and raised IOP(intraocular pressure) which is managed by YAG-PI (peripheral iridotomy) to reduce tension, systemic steroids and oral antiparasitic treatment.
Results:As managed by YAG-PI(peripheral iridotomy), IOP(intraocular pressure) came to normal, pain has releived and prognosis was good as systemic steroids and oral antiparasitic tablets started early. If not treated will lead to complications such as severe inflammation in vitreous, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, secondary glaucoma, hypotony and phthisis.
Conclusion:Ocular cysticercosis(OCC) is a preventable cause of blindness cause by parasitic infection by tapeworm,if managed early has good prognosis.
