Abstract
Aim: To evaluate findings of ASOCT in various types of scleritis and compare the treatment response.
Method: ASOCT findings in various types of scleritis were analysed retrospectively in 36 patients(42 eyes) using Zeiss(Visante). Scleral thickness(ST) was assessed in 4 quadrants. 24 treated eyes with 22 normal other eyes of patients were used as control.
Results: ASOCT findings in 42 eyes were analysed;of which 27 had diffuse anterior scleritis(DAS), 3 nodular scleritis, 9 necrotising scleritis, 2 sclerouveitis and 1 sclerokeratitis. Hyporeflective spaces were seen in 45% (19/42) eyes which resolved in 89.4%(17/19) of controls. Mean ST(MST) in thickest quadrant was 1.11mm pretreatment and MST in corresponding quadrant was 0.99mm in controls(p<0.05). MST in thickest quadrant in DAS was 1.13mm pretreatment, which in controls was 1.01mm in corresponding quadrant(p<0.004). Conclusion: ASOCT can supplement clinical evaluation of scleritis especially DAS and assessment of its resolution.
