Abstract
Method:This prospective, observational study compared the endothelial status(ECD, CCT, Hexagonality and Coefficient of Variance (CV)) with specular microscope in 100 diabetic and non diabetic patients each before and after phacoemulsification at 1 week, 1 month and 3 months.
Result: Difference of mean ECD and hexagonality at 3 month was statistically significant.CCT was significantly higher at 1 month but there was no significant difference at 3 months. The difference in % CV was significantly higher in diabetics.BCVA at 1 month was significant but no significant difference was seen at 3 months.
Conclusion:The changes in ECD,morphology and CCT were significantly high in diabetic population.Diabetics showed slower recovery in endothelial healing as compared to non diabetic group.
