Abstract
Certain visual disorders in children respond poorly to established treatment in spite of the best efforts of treating ophthalmologists. These cases include hereditary retinal and optic nerve disorders, corticovisual impairment and vision-deprivation amblyopia. Treating these cases of refractory visual impairment is always a challenge. Though commonly faced, the management is often incomplete with poor visual outcome. Through this course the esteemed faculty would highlight various treatment modalities of vision therapy and low-vision aids, which helps in significant visual improvement. With the help of clinical photos and videos, the course would cover the various ways of clinically examining these patients to know their visual potential. This helps in deciding the treatment plan to enhance the visual functions and provide the child with optimum visual outcome. Over time these patients show remarkable improvement in academic performance, motor skills and psychological confidence.
