Abstract
Examining a child’s eye requires a special skillset making it a daunting task for most ophthalmologists. It becomes even more challenging in the presence of strabismus where proper evaluation and management is vital in aligning eyes and restoring binocularity. Although this appears complex, following a protocoled approach and established rules, appropriate management can be ensured in each case.
This course focuses on performing an effective eye examination and refraction in children along with current concepts in management of amblyopia. Case based approach to strabismus is discussed with useful pearls derived from the vast experience of the instructors. Presentations are rich in clinical photographs, surgical videos and evidence-based algorithms. Audience participation is encouraged after each presentation.
At the end of the course, participants would be able to know how to examine a child’s eye, approach a case of strabismus confidently and evolve working management guidelines.
