Abstract
This case based instruction course will highlight the importance of a robust pre-operative planning and case selection prior to refractive surgery, which is a crucial aspect in achieving good outcomes and patient satisfaction after any corneal refractive surgery.A number of high end tools are being introduced in the market to help in pre-operative decision making prior to refractive surgery. The role of modern topography, epithelial thickness profile, biomechanics, objective quality of vision assessment, aberration analysis and newer OCT based topographers will be explained through interesting case based scenarios, highlighting the use of a particular modality. All speakers will end with a clear take home message about the practical usefulness of the equipment/technology they discussed, which will give a fair idea to the audience about the relative importance and practical usefulness of these equipments and will help them decide if they need to include them into their armamentarium.
